Students on The Move: A Case Study on How Props Can Improve Students’ Presentation Skills

ABSTRACT:
Using props in a presentation is a great tool to attract the audience and make it memorable for the participants. They enhance the impact of the presentation and must be chosen carefully. So, the aim of this paper is to introduce the concept of “props” to students and to point out the effectiveness of using them during a presentation in Higher Education. The participants of the study are 10 students who had to prepare a presentation for 10 minutes time and to use props to illustrate it. The methodology of this study is based on an observation and the evaluation criteria of students’ presentations. This type of presentation is developed in two classes of 60 minutes in the subject of “Text Analysis 1” in the first academic year 2022-2023 of Bachelor degree study programme “English Language” at the Department of Foreign Languages, “Fan S. Noli” University, Korҫë, Albania. The results of the study showed improvements in students’ confidence, development of their presentation skills and great value to their speech.
