Feasibility Analysis and Construction of Corpus-Based Translation Teaching Models for Teaching Polish- Chinese Translation

ABSTRACT: 

Corpus-based translation teaching models have received increasing attention from academics and its efficiency has been widely verified. In the current context of rapid and constant evolution of global communication and specialized discourses, the need to devise methods to ensure both high quality levels of specialized translation and successful translation teaching is becoming a challenge. Steady renewal in knowledge paradigms leads to an increase in term coinage, modifications in lexical and phraseological patterns, and accommodations in discourse conventions. This situation requires teachers in specialized translation to train future translators to develop the skills meant to help them adapt rapidly to change. Polish as a foreign language teaching has attracted a growing number of learners in China. However, many Polish Studies in China were newly established in the past few years and have not formed a mature teaching system, which is limiting their development. Improving the current situation becomes a challenge. However, there are rare Chinese-Polish corpora or corpus-based studies on Chinese-Polish translation. In Chinese context, seldom teachers have introduced the corpus as a tool into the teaching of Chinese-Polish translation. Based on such situation, this study analyses the important role of corpora in translation teaching to improve terminological accuracy, find appropriate word combinations and use professional common words appropriately, thus improving students’ language ability and translation skills. It also summarizes the teaching strategies and techniques for the use of corpora in a corpus-driven translation teaching model, and opens up new trend for the application of corpora in translation teaching.
