Youmna El Hissi, Hatim El Maaddem
ABSTRACT:
This research explores the integration and practical application of social responsibility (SR) within the Moroccan higher educational system. Since the dawn of the 21st century, Social Responsibility has become an essential and fundamental pillar of ethical governance, sustainable development and general community welfare across the globe. Therefore, it is essential to assess the extent to which SR values are reflected in Morocco’s education sector which has been through a number of significant reforms, in order to address the dual challenge of providing quality education and fostering social awareness and civic responsibility among students. In this study, we look at the existing SR practices in Moroccan educational organizations both public and private covering the entire university ecosystem, made up of the administrative staff, the professors, the students, and all other relevant components and stakeholders. We are doing this inventory while highlighting the key institutional, cultural, and policy-related obstacles to the adoption of SR. Furthermore, we propose actions and strategies that may enable Moroccan universities to become agents of societal change.
