Impact of Ethical Leadership on Organizational Effectiveness at Al Ankabout Company, Syria
Dr. Mohammad Kher Raad
ABSTRACT:
The Syrian long-term war has resulted in leadership concerns that negatively affect business practices, contributing to a lack of private companies’ quality performance. Although this conflict can be critiqued as complex and chaotic, little substantial research has been published on its detrimental effects on ethical leadership. This study aims to explore the influences of ethical leadership on the relationship between managers and employees at Al Ankabout Company for Remittance. It employs a quantitative cross-sectional survey as the research strategy. To collect some reliable and valid data, self-completion questionnaires were conducted with a random sample of 100 employees and 35 managers. The quantitative data gathered were analyzed by means of descriptive statistics. The findings showed that ethical leadership could have some positive effects on the relation between employees and managers, including altruism, integrity, role modelling, mutual respect and trust. They also revealed that ethical leadership and transformational leadership are closely interconnected because they are hands-on, leading to essential changes in employees’ and managers’ behaviors and giving more opportunities to change the organization as a whole. The significance of this study is that it makes a genuine contribution in self-scrutinizing the complex dynamics of ethical leadership at a private Syrian company. Specifically, this study recommended conducting more in-depth exploration on how ethical leadership is vital in establishing novel analyses and more accurate insights into wrestling with the organizational hurdles of the Syrian crisis at both private and public companies.
