Home Education as A Possible Model for Future Education in the 21st Century
Dr. Avishag Edri
ABSTRACT:
One of the criticisms of the school is that it is not adapted to the 21st century. We live in a digital world where the teacher can no longer be the source of knowledge but its mediator, where learning can take place from anywhere in the world, a world where we have no idea what our children will be working on and therefore it is best to give them skills rather than content, a world that requires creativity and thinking outside the box and less memorization of archaic knowledge.
Homeschooling is more adapted to futuristic education in many ways: the children choose what to learn, how and when, a significant part of their learning takes place online, and the choice to educate at home serves as an example for them to think outside the box.
As part of the lecture, I will review the educational approaches in homeschooling, and refer to the ideas that the school can take from home education and apply them in the public framework.
