Exploration Teachers Challenges in Teaching Physical Education Using Technology

ABSTRACT:
The purpose of this study was to explore physical education teacher (PET) awareness and barriers experiences using technology in Physical Education (PE) session as technological pedagogical content knowledge provides a framework for integrating technology into teacher education. The fast development of digital technologies expands the PET to fully used it within the context of PE. Participants were physical education teachers recruited from eight different schools. Semi-structured face-to-face interviews were conducted using open ended questions based on the teachers’ overview to gathering in-depth feedback and later analyzed using thematic analysis to identify the challenges face by PET. The two themes emerged from the data: (a) technology awareness in education (b) teachers’ challenges using technology in Physical Education which mostly related to outdoor activities. The findings suggest to increase the teacher skills and knowledge in using technology for PE session. Lack of technology tools can demotivate the teachers to use technology in PE sessions in school in directly hampered development with technology in teaching PE in school.
