Dorota Rynkowska
ABSTRACT:
The Polish Red Cross is one of the components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, which consists of: the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), who support the Polish Red Cross in carrying out activities to help migrants from Ukraine and to migrants on the border between Poland and Belarus. The war in Ukraine remains one of the greatest humanitarian challenges in the history of the Polish Red Cross. The research procedure focused on: analysis of possibilities and solutions for providing support and assistance to Ukrainian citizens in connection with the armed conflict on the territory of this country and a review of the literature in this field – mainly available documents and official information. The results of the analyzes conducted show that the forms of support implemented by the Polish Red Cross for war refugees from Ukraine focus on various levels aimed at meeting the needs of individuals and families affected by the refugee problem. The catalog of benefits provided for assistance to refugees from Ukraine covers many aspects of their functioning, both in the social and individual dimensions, and in particular focuses on the implementation of programs for migrants, such as: creation of integration centers, distribution of medical vouchers, housing support, psychological support, building social resilience through activation on the labor market and integration activities, organizing psychological assistance in Poland and Ukraine, education, including learning the Polish language, information support along with legal assistance, support for people with disabilities, integration assistance, career counseling.
