Swami Vivekananda’s Vision: Ramrajya, as an Ideal of Universal Harmony, Spiritual Democracy

ABSTRACT:

Swami Vivekananda, one of the India’s most influential spiritual leaders, propagated a unique vision of of an ideal state based on ethical and spiritual principles, which he termed Ramrajya. His conceptualisation of Ramrajya transcendent the realms of mere political governance instead encompassing a harmonious social order governed by morality, justice, and upliftment of the downtrodden. At its core, Swami Vivekananda’s Ramrajya lies is the principle of spiritual democracy where in individuals, processes, autonomy, guided by their inner conscience and ethical conduct. He envisioned a society where freedom, equality, and religious harmony, prevail with the acceptance and integration of the best elements from all faiths. Ramrajya was not merely an utopian ideal, but practical framework in the spiritual empowerment of individuals. Swamiji believed that attaining Ramrajya necessitated systematic approach, the rising the masses through education and self realisation. Advocate for the dissemination of knowledge and the development of character, enabling individuals to govern themselves from within this inner transformation, coupled with elimination of societal ill such as poverty, ignorance and operation was seen as a foundation for establishing an ethical and just social order. More of a Vivekananda’s vision of Ramrajya embarrassed, principles of universal brotherhood, compassion, and service humanity. He envision society with a strong would uplift the week, and whether the pursuit of material progress would be balanced, the spiritual and moral growth. In the era marked by societal divisions and conflicts Vivekananda’s conceptualisation of Ramrajya offers a profound and enduring vision of a harmonious coexistence, rooted in the spiritual democracy, universal acceptance, and realisation of the highest human potential.
