ABSTRACT:

The aim of this study is to reveal the effect of vocational awareness of university students studying at associate, undergraduate and graduate levels on unemployment anxiety. The sample of the study consists of a total of 150 students studying in associate, undergraduate and graduate programmes affiliated to Anadolu University in the 2024-2025 academic year and participated in the survey voluntarily. The data were obtained by using ‘Personal Information Form’ and ‘Vocational Career Awareness Scale’ and ‘Unemployment Anxiety Scale’. SPSS 24 programme was used in the statistical analysis of the data collected from the participants. Firstly, normality test was performed by checking the skewness and kurtosis values of the data included in the analysis. Then, the assumption that the data were normally distributed was accepted and independent sample t test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson correlation tests were performed. As a result of the analyses, it was concluded that there was a significant difference between the participants’ age, department, parents’ education level and family income and their career awareness and unemployment anxiety. In addition, according to the results obtained from the correlation analysis, it was determined that there was a significant relationship between students’ anxiety about finding a job and their vocational career awareness. As a result, it has been determined that students’ anxiety about finding a job decreases as their career awareness levels increase.
