Drivers of People Analytics Adoption – Evidence from A Danish Context
Brian Balslev Andersen
ABSTRACT:
This study explores the factors influencing the adoption of People Analytics (PA) among Danish organizations, drawing on the Technological-Organizational-Environment (TOE) framework and Diffusion of Innovations (DOI) theory. Despite the growing prominence of PA, empirical evidence on its adoption drivers remains scarce. Using survey data from 313 Danish organizations collected between March and May 2024, this study empirically tests prevailing assumptions about the drivers of PA adoption. The results reveal key determinants, including data quality, relative advantage, a data-driven decision-making culture, and normative pressure. Meanwhile, factors such as value-belief fit, and mimetic pressure were not found to be significant. Overall, the results underscore the critical role of technological and organizational factors, along with environmental influences, in shaping the decisions to adopt or reject PA. By offering a comprehensive perspective on PA adoption and emphasizing the interplay between various factors, this study contributes to the literature and provides practical insights for organizations seeking to leverage PA for improved decision making and competitive advantage.
