How can Language Barriers be overcome in the Hospitality Industry for Providing Hospitable Services

ABSTRACT:
One of the largest global industries is the hospitality industry where people from round the globe remain connected, and they remain connected through language. But people from different countries speak different languages with their diverse cultural background. Although everywhere English is used as ‘Lingua Franca’, there exists barriers in using the languages while communicating. Considering the fact in a survey of 20,500 travellers 26% reported language barriers as an obstacle to their travelling experience. Further, tourists become more susceptible to committing unconscious offenses due to language barrier. But overall tourism and hospitality is a service industry which mainly provides services through language. Language barriers result to prevent people from understanding each other. This paper focuses on the problem and finds out how these barriers can be overcome so that the actual hospitable services can be ensured to all travellers round the world.
