ABSTRACT:

Although Latin American governments have important statistical information about various conditions of Venezuelan migrants, one aspect that has been poorly studied is the perceptions of migrants in vulnerable conditions who inhabit public spaces in cities. Additionally, little is known about how migrants perceive the response of regular citizens to their conditions, the mechanisms they use for space appropriation, and their feelings of detachment from their places of origin. The methodological strategy employed was descriptive, using a mixed design that included a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews targeting non-probabilistic samples in a case study: Bogotá, Colombia. The results were analyzed using the Atlas/ti software for qualitative information analysis and SPSS for quantitative analysis. Based on the findings, educational guidelines are proposed to educate citizens about the vulnerability of Venezuelan migrants. Specifically, the project fills the gap left by statistics and delve deeper into the perceptions of the public and the circumstances experienced by migrants.
