The Effect of Community Participation in Reinforcing Sustainable Development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Community participation is one of the fundamentals of sustainable development since it is essential in achieving prosperity and social cohesion. Furthermore, community participation encourages individuals to make positive changes and improve their quality of life. The current paper navigates community participation, its objectives, dimensions and characteristics. Taking the increasing global interest in sustainable development into consideration, the paper aims to investigate the most prominent motives behind community participation and sustainable development reinforcement. The paper also examines the effect of community participation in reinforcing sustainable development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, the paper suggests a vision for reinforcing the role of community participation in sustainable development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The paper focuses on young individuals as they are the pillar of the development process and their contribution is vital in advancing their communities. The sample consists of (392) young Saudi individuals from both genders. The researcher used a descriptive survey approach. The survey’s validity and reliability was tested by the researcher and a group of external interraters, and the results were linked with findings of previous studies.
