Museum Collections, Art Didactics And Augmented Reality Applications. Challenges And Perspectives In The Postdigital Era
Dr. Dorotheos Orfanidis
ABSTRACT:
Art education plays a crucial role in educational institutions, providing a carefully structured framework for the pedagogical transmission of artistic knowledge. It encompasses a range of methodologies, strategies, and principles utilized in instructive processes related to art, covering not only the technical aspects of artistic creation but also broader concepts such as creativity, cultural appreciation, and critical thinking. The significance of art education lies in its ability to contribute comprehensively to students’ development, fostering cognitive, emotional, and social competencies that extend beyond the classroom. In the context of the post-COVID and postdigital era, education, including artistic education, has undergone profound transformations. While traditional art methods remain relevant in museum education, this paper explores the impact of contemporary digital technologies on art education and museum experiences in the postdigital landscape. The central objective is to achieve a balance between traditional museum education and the integration of cutting-edge technologies. The study investigates the evolution of museum education in the postdigital era, bridging the gap between human experiences and the digital realm. It empowers individuals to creatively use technology, engage with complex ideas, and contribute to a society that values both innovation and the profound richness of human expression. An essential part of this exploration involves examining the potential of multimodal communication and interaction in addressing artworks and artistic content. The inquiry extends to the possibility of implementing class-free lessons in the museum setting, prompting an investigation into the enhancement of multimodal communication and interaction through the integration of augmented reality technologies. This research aims to shed light on the transformative potential of such technological interventions, particularly in the realms of education and digital storytelling.
