Students’ and Teachers’ Perspective of Difficulties in Digital Transformation of Technical Subjects in Higher Education
Aleksandra Jastrzębska
ABSTRACT:
The transition from traditional classroom teaching to digital learning posed significant challenges for both teachers and students. Teachers struggled with adapting to new technologies, mastering various online platforms, and redesigning instructional materials to maintain engagement in a virtual environment. The shift also required them to undergo continuous professional development, balancing their existing pedagogical skills with new technical demands. For students, the difficulties included staying motivated, managing time efficiently, and coping with the absence of face-to-face interaction. Both teachers and students faced additional issues, such as gaps in digital literacy, unequal access to technology, and the psychological strain that accompanied remote learning environments. These challenges highlighted the complexities involved in transforming classical classes into a digital format. The presented work shows the results of the analysis of teachers and students attitudes towards the transformation of classical, face-to-face classes into digital form, especially when taking into consideration specialized technical subjects.
