English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Instructors’ Perspectives on Enhancing Students’ Environmental Awareness by Incorporating the Metaverse into Educational Settings

ABSTRACT:
This scientific study delves into the perspectives, thoughts, and attitudes of English language teachers concerning the use of metaverse technology to enhance students’ understanding of climate change. The study employed a distributed questionnaire to gather data, which supported the proposed hypothesis. The objective of this research was to examine the level of educators’ knowledge of Metaverse, their views on using this technology to increase climate change awareness, and the potential difficulties in implementing it. Overall, the study presents a complete view of EFL teachers’ opinions on integrating the metaverse into climate change education. The findings of this research demonstrate that English language educators perceive the metaverse as a valuable opportunity to raise students’ awareness and understanding of climate change. By capitalizing on the perceived benefits and overcoming the identified challenges, stakeholders can pave the way for a more environmentally conscious and promising generation, ready to tackle the challenges of tomorrow. In conclusion, the findings gleaned from this study not only affirm the viability of leveraging the metaverse to augment climate change education but also underscore the imperative for concerted efforts aimed at enhancing educators’ familiarity with this transformative technological paradigm.
