Internationalization of Higher Education Trends, Opportunities, and Challenges: A Systematic Literature Review

ABSTRACT:
This systematic literature review examines the internationalization of higher education, focusing on trends, opportunities, and challenges. The study overviews the advantages of technological infrastructures in improving academic accomplishment, communication abilities, and global market enthusiasm while acknowledging educational and technological access challenges. The internationalization of higher education has appeared and engaged an essential part of students, staff, and professors. This systematic literature review selected relevant 55 research pieces of literature were created based on encoded inclusion measures through an in-depth examination and screening method across numerous hypothetical catalogs, comprising PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. The study shows that higher education trends have generated many advantages through various materials to make it easier for the aspirant. The prospect of higher education has emerged with several dimensions, such as scholarships, exchange programs, communication with outreach experts, and extensive online educational platforms such as, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). This systematic literature review found that the blessing of technological infrastructures involves better academic achievement, communication skills, quality assurance certificates, open-access publications, fulfilling as per global market demand, and access to worldwide educational infrastructures. In addition, the study revealed that it has often brought some educational and technical challenges for both freshmen and practitioners. However, this study delivers a wide-ranging outline of the up-to-date situations and upcoming guidelines of higher education internationalization.
