Permanent Language Acquisition via the Language Awareness Approach and the Berlitz Method

Dr. Ariadne de Villa

ABSTRACT:

The presentation addresses the necessity of language acquisition in today’s globalized world, is approached in this presentation, proposing the utilization of a combination of both, the Language Awareness Approach, as well as the Berlitz Method. Since language is a natural process in human beings, the Language Awareness Approach uses this natural ability and combines it with language skills, attitudinal education and metacognitive opportunities. This leads the students to reflect on the process of language acquisition and its usage, in order to make it theirs permanently. In contrast, the Berlitz Method uses the complete immersion as a medium to attain the target language. A combination of these two methodologies is ideal to internalize the target language on the long run.
