Mateusz Jeżowski, Jadwiga Fila, Paweł Poszytek
ABSTRACT:
The poster presents the key aspect of the reform of higher education policy in Poland – the introduction of Research Universities. “Research University” is a status attributed to top ten universities in Poland. From among 20 best Polish universities eligible to take part in the competition an international team of experts selected 10, which will receive a subsidy increased by 10% by 2020-2026. Research University Programme is one of the key elements of the reform of the Polish higher education system – Constitution for Science. Universities taking part in the competition presented an action plan for the coming years, including activities aiming at increasing the impact of scientific activity, strengthening research cooperation with internationally renowned research centres, improving the quality of students and doctoral students education, improving staff policy and quality of university governance. The poster also lists the criteria that need to be fulfilled in order to qualify as a “Research University” and discuss the benefits for universities, students and researchers. Finally, the poster puts this policy reform in an international perspective and provides comparison with similar initiatives in Europe.
