ABSTRACT:

Transitioning to a low-carbon energy system is a complex and challenging process that requires a thorough understanding of the various obstacles that must be overcome. Consequently, many researchers have devoted their efforts to studying this area. To this end, a literature review was conducted, focusing on studies published using PSALSAR to identify the challenges involved in this transition. The review identified a total of seventeen challenges that can be classified into five distinct categories: social, economic, environmental, technical, and institutional. The results also indicate that the number of studies on this topic is likely to increase with the introduction of international agreements on climate change. Furthermore, it was found that earlier studies tended to use qualitative methods, while more recent studies employ more sophisticated methods and address more complex topics.
