Linking Psychological Safety To Attitude Towards Workplace Gossip
Sumit Ghosh
ABSTRACT:
In recent times psychological safety has been linked to various job related (Kark and Carmeli, 2009) as well as personal outcomes (Edmondson et al., 2007). While personality traits have been linked to attitude towards gossip (Litman and Pezzo 2005), barring a few studies (Guo et al.,2021), not much has been explored to understand the impact of psychological safety in shaping attitudes toward workplace gossip. It is argued that when an employee feels safe expressing himself/herself in front of his/her team members he/she may not be inclined to engage in workplace gossip. Hence, in this study an attempt has been made to understand the effect of psychological safety on attitude towards gossip. For this quantitative study, data will be collected from working executives through established scales. Appropriate statistical tests will be carried out to understand the impact of psychological safety on attitude towards gossip.
