The revolution in mobile technologies has brought tremendous benefits to the learners, teachers, educators, and researchers in the field of education. Using mobile technology, the learning process is accelerated, and the learning time is extended beyond the class time. However, many research studies examined the implementation of mobile technology in teaching revealed some challenges that hinders the successful utilization of mobile technology. This research investigates the challenges that the faculty of the English language center in one of the higher learning institutes in Oman face while they attempt to utilize mobile technology in the context of English as a Foreign Learning. The analysis of the data collected through a survey completed by eighty-one (81) faculty members and the fourteen (14) semi-structured interviews generated a list of constraints. The technological issues, cost, cheating, conduct of examinations, students’ reluctance to use educational applications were considered the main challenges that hinder the effective utilization of mobile technology in EFL context in the higher learning institution. These challenges are further discussed, and solutions were suggested.
