Dealing with The Negative Effects of Digital Games and Utilizing Educational Opportunities for Children

ABSTRACT:
In the last decades, digital games are so common among young children. Many parents have concerns about their children’s extensive interest in them. To address these concerns, researchers are searching for their effects on small children. In this research, the aim is to analyze the benefits and harms of digital games on young children. To do so, previous studies about the subject were analyzed, and the positive and negative effects of games are listed. The broad picture of the analysis showed that there is a list of opportunities for games including cognitive and skill development and helping well-being. On the other hand, the list of risks includes physical, mental, and psychological problems. The articles argue that parents could manage the children – digital game relationship. For this reason, some recommendations for parents to manage children – digital game relation is provided.
