Strategies For Enhancing Supply Chain Resilience: Insights From a Quarter-Century of Disruptions
Lamiae Hasnaoui, J. Ktite
ABSTRACT:
This study aims to delve deeply into the significant disruptions that have shaped the evolution of supply chains over the past twenty-five years, from 1995 to 2020, including the period of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through bibliometric analysis and a thorough examination of publications regarding supply chain disruptions, several strategies have been identified as fundamental levers for enhancing resilience in the face of these disruptions. These strategies include diversifying sources of supply and suppliers, adopting cutting-edge technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), supply chain-specific risk management practices, as well as utilizing buffer stocks and contingency capacities, while emphasizing the need for total transparency within the supply chain. However, it is important to acknowledge the intrinsic limitations of this study. While several effective strategies have been highlighted to increase supply chain resilience, it is crucial to note that their effectiveness can be profoundly influenced by the specific context in which they are implemented. Thus, for future research, it is recommended to conduct a thorough analysis of contextual factors that influence the effectiveness of these strategies, while exploring new avenues to enhance the resilience of supply chains in constantly changing environments.
