Katarzyna Kuźmicz

ABSTRACT:

In this paper processes in a container depot as a significant part of the container supply chain are analyzed. The aim of the depot is inspection, repair and storage of empty containers. On the basis of a case study carried out in one of the major sea ports in Europe the proposal of optimization of these process is proposed. The objective is to minimize the sum of the total cost of transporting containers in the depot over the planning period, the total cost of storing containers at all locations and the total cost of unmet demand. A hybrid of a Capacity Planning Problem CPP and Inventory Routing Problem IRP is developed and computer experiments with instances obtained by random deviation from industrial data have been carried out.
