Illuminating Dark Tourism: A Bibliometric Exploration

ABSTRACT:
This study employs a bibliometric approach to explore the concept of dark tourism and its perceived benefits. A total of 713 articles published on the topic between 1996 and 2022 were collected from Scopus. The VOSviewer software was utilised to analyse the data. The bibliometric maps were created to represent the literature on dark tourism visually. This research contributes to the field by presenting a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the perceived benefit of dark tourism. The findings reveal that the literature on the perceived benefit of dark tourism is expanding rapidly in line with the selected parameters. Moreover, this study identifies key themes, keywords for perceived benefits and noteworthy studies within the field of dark tourism.
