ABSTRACT:

This study explores the crucial part played by women’s rights activism and movements in influencing political change and promoting gender equality in the National Capital Region (NCR), Philippines. The study explores how women’s activism has influenced policy reforms, legislative changes, and the general empowerment of women in the area against the backdrop of a complicated socio-political environment. The NCR affords a distinctive atmosphere where women’s rights movements have evolved as catalysts for social change because it serves as the nation’s economic and political hub. This study uses a multidisciplinary method to analyze how women’s activism has changed over time and how it has affected political decision-making processes. It combines qualitative interviews with archival analysis and policy document reviews. The results of this study show that women’s rights movements in NCR have been essential in promoting gender-sensitive laws and policies. In order to challenge conventional gender stereotypes and promote a more inclusive political environment, women’s groups have been mobilized, as have lobbying campaigns and grassroots activity. Additionally, these initiatives have helped increase female political engagement, both as candidates and voters, enhancing the democratic environment in NCR. Study sheds light on the ways that grassroots movements can affect policy agendas and advance women’s rights in a fluid sociopolitical environment, adding to our understanding of the complex relationship between women’s activism, political advancement, and gender equality promotion in NCR Philippines. These conclusions are applicable not only to the Philippines but also to other nations throughout the world who are dealing with comparable problems.
