Development of an Observational Online Questionnaire to Study Human Sexuality
Victoria Kopperschmidt, Prof. Dr. Ponseti (UKSH Kiel)
ABSTRACT:
Sexuality affects people on a somatic, psychological and social level and must therefore be understood in biopsychosocial terms. Many studies have shown that there is a connection between disorders of a person’s sexuality and their physical and mental health, as well as their quality of life (cf. Fugl-Meyer 1997; McCabe 1997; Litwin 1998; Ventegodt, 1998). This branch of medicine is based on the experiments of Masters and Johnson (cf. Masters, Johnson 1970) in which human sexual intercourse was observed in detail by the experimenters. Based on these experiments, numerous findings and therapies were generated in sexual medicine, which are still recognized procedures today. After reviewing currently established research methods of human sexual play, there is no observational questionnaire that examines human sexual intercourse in detail at the level of basic research.
