ABSTRACT:
Feminist art and literature emerged from the second-wave feminism of the 1960s and 70s, challenging patriarchal representations and reclaiming female voices. Historically, women were marginalized or depicted through a male gaze, reinforcing societal power imbalances.
Feminist art and literature aim to critique existing power structures, celebrate female experiences, promote gender equality, and create alternative narratives that challenge traditional stereotypes. They seek to amplify female voices and perspectives, often excluded from mainstream canons.
Analysis involves deconstructing existing texts and artworks, identifying patriarchal biases, and exploring female characters and artists from a feminist perspective. New works often employ autobiographical elements, explore female sexuality, and challenge traditional artistic forms.
