ABSTRACT:

Global warming and climate change are the main challenges of the modern world. The world’s leading economies are trying to transform towards sustainable technologies in order to reduce emissions that harm not only the environment but also human health. It has been proven by a number of studies that the Earth will completely exhaust its fossil fuel resources in less than 100 years. This is the additional factor why developed countries are trying to introduce sustainable business models. The 17 goals of sustainable development of the United Nations are shared unconditionally by 193 countries of the world. However, every country has different ways and challenges in meeting these 17 goals. Out of 17 goals, 7 (clean and affordable energy) and 13 (climate change) are the most significant parts for environmental protection. Since carbon emissions are known to be the main driver of climate change, energy is the largest emitter of carbon emissions after the transportation sector. The study describes the benefits of developing renewable energy resources, which is the most important means of action against climate change.
