The development of pedagogical games for children when learning to read and write
Prof. Dr. Andréia Osti
ABSTRACT:
Learning to read and write is part of the formal activities taught in all schools and constitutes learning rights for each and every person. It is understood here that students who finish basic education with insufficient performance in Portuguese, in addition to having a loss in their school life, will have problems acquiring new learning as such a gap causes losses for their entire life in society. The research presented here highlights a proposal for teaching reading and writing through pedagogical games created seeking a playful, interactive form of teaching, based on specific reading and writing content. The games produced at the university involve content from the school curriculum and are produced at low cost so that they are accessible to all teachers and schools. The initial results show that students participating in the project are more involved in playful activities, that games provide better moments of interaction in the classroom and that they result in effective learning, as they constitute a different way of approaching the contents to be taught. In relation to the Sustainable Development objectives (SDGs) linked to this research, we have 4 – Quality education and 10 – Reduction of inequalities. It is noteworthy that the research seeks to improve Public Education, promote the articulation between theory and practice in the educational context with a view to consolidating the tripod of teaching, research and university extension and promoting a humanized education. The research is developed with financial support from FAPESP – in the public education improvement program – PROEDUCA, here focused on schools in the interior of the state of São Paulo, Brazil.
