ABSTRACT:

The Black Sea’s geopolitical significance makes its security crucial for Eurasian peace. The Anaklia Port project is pivotal, enhancing the transportation corridor linking Europe, Asia, and the Caucasus. This research explores the port’s geopolitical and economic importance, focusing on its impact on regional security, trade, and Black Sea infrastructure. It compares regional transportation routes, evaluates the port’s economic potential, and examines the political challenges it faces. Amid rising demand for stable maritime routes, the study underscores Anaklia Port’s growing significance in Eurasia and the Black Sea region. In order to examine the research topic, the following methods have been employed: the systemic (structural and functional aspects) method, which allowed for the examination of the foreign policies of individual states. The research uses a comparative analysis to examine relationships between subjects, alongside qualitative analysis of policy documents and quantitative analysis of trade flows from key Black Sea basin countries. The data analysis demonstrates that the Anaklia Port has the potential to substantially reduce transportation costs and travel time between Europe and Asia, which could position Georgia as a pivotal actor in regional trade. Due to its strategic importance, this study could stimulate discussions on the future of Black Sea transport infrastructure and regional geopolitics. It offers a thorough analysis of Anaklia and the Black Sea’s potential as a crucial transit route between Europe and Asia.
