Prediction of Psychosomatic Disorder Symptoms Based on Alexithymia and Negative Life Events
Dr. Nasrin Maleki
ABSTRACT:
The present study aimed to predict psychosomatic disorder symptoms based on alexithymia and negative life events. This research was descriptive-correlational in nature. The statistical population included married women aged 20 to 45 residing in District 4 of Tehran in the year 2024. A sample of 200 individuals was selected using the convenience sampling method. The research instruments included the Psychosomatic Symptoms Questionnaire and the Life Events Questionnaire (Holmes & Rahe, 1967), as well as the Alexithymia Scale (Lacourt et al., 2013). Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression. The results showed that alexithymia and negative life events significantly predicted psychosomatic disorder symptoms (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the multiple regression analysis revealed that these variables explained 33% of the variance in psychosomatic symptoms. These findings suggest that alexithymia and negative life experiences can predict psychosomatic disorder symptoms in married women.
