ABSTRACT:

In the modern landscape of second language (L2) pedagogy, there is an increasing call to incorporate more creative and expressive models of language use during classes. Among the newly investigated and created approaches, the use of poetry has emerged as a promising yet underutilized medium. Unlike traditional methods increasing the students’ encouragement to poetry engages them in a process of linguistic exploration, emotional articulation, and cultural as well as personal identity constructions. The review was organized through five key factors: theoretical foundation, emotional and cognitive benefits, development of voice, pedagogical approaches, and barriers to implementation. The studies selected according to the difference of geographical locations and institutions such as Sri Lanca, Indonesia, USA, and Uzbekistan. This literature review synthesizes findings from five academic studies to evaluate the impact of poetry on writing in L2 classes to find the answer to the questions below which are the main reasons for the purpose of writing.
