Talent Green: A Case Study of Employee Well-being in Talent Management at the Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB) and ABSA Bank (Mauritius) Limited
Kureeman L S, Dr. Ramsamy Goomany S
ABSTRACT:
With the pressing urgency to align with UN Sustainable Development Goals 3, 11, and 13, many institutions in Mauritius have “revisited [sic] their talent management practices and aligned [sic] them with green initiatives” (Kumar, 2016). Defined as a ‘holistic and sustainable approach’ to talent management that prioritises well-being and employee resilience, ‘Talent Green’ integrates practices that foster physical, mental, and emotional health while aligning organisational objectives in an attempt to thrive on sustainability. This paper aims at exploring the relationship between talent management strategies and employee mental health in the selected Mauritian banks, focusing on the impacts and effectiveness of talent sustainable practices on employee performance, retention, and job satisfaction. To fulfill the objective, the paper adopted a quantitative research approach by employing a structured online questionnaire disseminated to a random sampling of 50 bank employees. The data collected will be assessed through the SPSS software, ensuring correlational and descriptive statistical analysis and sustaining correlations between talent management practices and employee wellbeing indicators. The data interpretations reveal that flexibility, employee support and training programs, an effective organisational culture, and progressive talent management policies bear significant positive impact on green sustainability, enhanced institutional resilience, and employee mental health. Subsequently, the study claims that sustainable talent green within the banking organisational environment leads to a conducive space, nurturing resilience, and an empowered workforce to address the work-life balance concept. The paper, therefore, suggests the integration of holistic well-being and training programs and fostering lifelong learning and career-oriented initiatives to guarantee employee satisfaction.
