ABSTRACT:

The paper analyzed the protective measures used in Polish manufacturing enterprises during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research was conducted on a representative group of 600 enterprises, concerning their diversity in terms of employment size, industry, type of production, or occurrence or not of COVID cases. More than 40 individual protection measures were identified and assigned to one of 5 predefined groups. The research specified 3. types of production (unit/job, batch, mass) and 2. production forms (line production, jobshop production). The results indicate that the production volume (defined as the number of manufactured, repetitive products) affects the selection of protection measures. Their highest rate was in batch production. The production form (as defined by how the product flows through the production process) is significant. There is a wide variation in the results in the different measures groups. The study allows qualifying the type of protective measures used regarding the process execution. It can provide a basis for preparing for similar disruptions in the future.
