Smaragda Skordi
ABSTRACT:
A common phenomenon nowadays, that threatens the orderly operation of society, is social exclusion. Although it has been present from the beginning , in ancient and past societies , it is worth mentioning because, instead of countless tries that have been made, we have not managed to extinguish it. Various types of social exclusion influence lives of millions of people worldwide, such as economic, political, gender based or racial exclusion. Citizens who do not have access to financial, educational or other kind of recourses suffer and live in the margins of society. It is usual that political reasons lead to such phenomena. However, it is our obligation to discover it and fight against it. This struggle is personal but also collective. If we wish to be called “ civilized “ we should never withstand such situations. It is sure that if we support each other, it is easier to face such phenomena and help society make one more step towards equality and fairness. In this article, through literature review, above issues will be studied in order to find connections between political procedures and motives and social exclusion. It is an issue that worths our attention and a problem that should be solved, for the benefit of the whole humanity. This attempt will be a small contribution to the joint effort of all of us.
