ABSTRACT:

This presentation introduces the “OkTáv” project, which is being implemented through a collaboration between six universities in four countries—Hungary, Romania, Serbia, and Slovakia—and aims to support university students enrolled in teacher-training programs by participating in international mobility opportunities and acquiring all relevant knowledge within the framework of a single course. The OkTáv project has set and is pursuing several key objectives. These include conducting a literature review on international responsibility, documenting best practices in the field of international mobility, and developing attitude, opinion, and satisfaction surveys for students and instructors that can be used as both pre- and post-course assessments to develop participants’ competencies for international mobility. The project includes the development of alternative teacher-training modules related to international mobility, a specialized teacher-training course, and a methodological guide for the teacher-training program entitled Educational Cosmopolitans: International Perspectives in Teacher Training. Pilot 2, part of the project, aimed to test the 30-hour university course entitled Global Citizens in Education: Fundamentals of Project Design. The main topics of the Course were: Project Management and Strategy Development, European Core Values, Active Citizenship, Community Development, and Dissemination – ICT Tools. The pilot consisted of a six-day Blended Intensive Course designed for teacher trainees, including Language and Literature majors, Economics majors, Primary school and Middle school teacher trainees. During the course, which involved 60 students, the participants learnt how to design and disseminate in groups a four a project which they presented in the online component that followed the Course. The student-designed works met all requirements of projects designed within the Course.
