Dr. Sathasivam Mathiyalakan
ABSTRACT:
Oracle Academy (OA) is an initiative of the Oracle corporation. This program began in 2000 and has member institutions throughout the world. The program focuses on providing educational resources including software and academic / technical support to educational intuitions and faculty at all levels ranging from secondary schools to universities. The free membership includes several benefits to qualified institutions and faculty. There is also a paid tier for additional resources and support. Oracle APEX is described as a low-cost development environment that can be used to build desktop, mobile, and cloud applications. A key feature of Oracle APEX is that it can be run on the Oracle program’s website and its servers without necessitating the need for workspace and support from the educational institutions or the utilization of the institution’s IT staff. This also ensures that an educational institution minimizes security concerns as security is mostly handled at the program’s servers. The use of Oracle APEX provides enables a student to work on class assignments within the educational institution as well as remotely. The purpose of this study is to show an educator on how Oracle APEX can be used to teach Business school essential Management Information Systems (MIS) courses such as Systems Analysis and Design and Database Management.
