James Olawole Oyebade
ABSTRACT:
The research contributes to the ongoing discussions on the impact of business intelligence (BI) adoption within the banking industry specifically in a developing nation by providing an in-depth analysis of how business intelligence adoption influences organisational performance. It evaluates the effect of business intelligence adoption on the organisational performance of commercial banks in Nigeria across the four dimensions of the Balanced Scorecard: financial outcomes, customer satisfaction, internal processes, and learning and growth. A quantitative methods approach is deployed, using survey questionnaires by focusing on five strategic departments in the commercial banks in Nigeria: Marketing, Human Resources, Performance management, Customer Relationship management, and Risk Management. Descriptive analyses are conducted using SPSS, while inferential analyses are carried out through Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) using Smart-PLS. The findings aside enrich existing literature on BI adoption; it provides theoretical contributions and offer practical guidance for managers and policymakers seeking to enhance organisational performance through data-driven decision-making. Furthermore, it offers a clearer understanding on BI potentials to enhance performance of the bank through effective decision which lead to achieving competitive edge over business rivals in the banking industry in a developing economy.
