Creativity and Graph Data in Finance
Prof Dr. A. Can Inci
ABSTRACT:
In this paper I explore the role of enhancing creativity and innovation skills for developing graph algorithms in dealing with the solutions of complex problems in finance. ‘A picture is worth a thousand words’ is an accurate description in the field of finance, especially in marketing different financial products to potential customers. In today’s world of complex quantitative analysis, complex algorithms, and machine coding, the creation of convoluted financial products are not easy to understand, nor easy to explain and sell/market. Visual representation of the creation and functionality of these complex products would help substantially in understanding and in investing in them. The paper explores creativity from three major perspectives: (1) the ecology of the researcher, where certain cultures such as the Nordic countries and Japan have a substantial impact; (2) the artists’ approaches and strategies for innovation; (3) visual representations and interpretations of complex analyses and data. The pedagogical implications are also discussed.
