ABSTRACT:
The competitiveness of the Slovak economy in the global competitive environment has been significantly affected by the advent of the fourth industrial revolution, which has brought with it challenges associated with the arrival of automation, digitization, process optimization, and the transition to a circular economy. These trends are fundamentally changing the nature of entrepreneurship and have a significant impact on the economy and society. Entrepreneurship plays a key role in the modern knowledge economy, as evidenced by current economic theory, according to which entrepreneurs are the drivers of innovation and the primary forces of modern economic development. In the long term, one of the most important tasks of the Slovak government is to ensure sustainable economic growth in Slovakia in combination with job creation and improvement of entrepreneurship conditions. The aim of this paper is to use selected indicators to evaluate the level and conditions of implementation of ecological innovations in entrepreneurship entities in the Slovak Republic, to provide a comprehensive view of the state and development of an ecologically oriented innovation environment, as well as forms of its support, and to point out development trends, shortcomings, and possible solutions aimed at increasing the competitiveness and sustainability of entrepreneurship entities in the Slovak Republic.
