Co-Teaching with Twee: Rethinking English Instruction with AI Support

ABSTRACT:

With AI being increasingly integrated into EFL classrooms, instructors at the university level begin to experiment different AI tools, some of which are not only teaching aids but rather reached the level of becoming teaching assistants. This presentation sheds the light on “Twee”, an AI powered platform specifically designed English language teachers to help them enhance instruction and reduce workload. It offers a wide range of customizable activities and quizzes for all language skills in alignment with CEFR levels and classroom multiple needs. Based on practical applications, the presenter will demonstrate how Twee can enhance the teaching of academic English to undergraduates, particularly in content-rich contexts like law, arts and media. The presenter will also address key challenges that might face teachers using Twee. While maintaining the irreplaceable human role, attendees will gain insights on how this AI teaching assistant can help them increase engagement and streamline lesson planning and material development.
