ABSTRACT:

The study discusses the findings on efficient teaching mechanisms and learning conditions which employ learning transfer in the context of English as Additional Language (EAL). The Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) approach to EAL with Hugging and Bridging as teaching mechanisms for transfer were discovered to provide an adequate teaching context. Learning conditions which implement learning transfer related to authentic, collaborative and reflective EAL teaching/learning. The adaptation of these findings on teaching mechanisms and learning conditions in an instructional model for EAL transfer, along with some practical guidelines for EAL teaching, are presented.
