Samuel Benjamin Ayensu, Raphael Agyei, Dominc Achari
ABSTRACT:
This study examines corporate returns for semiconductor companies that are listed with the US SEC in detail during the last ten years, from 2014 to 2023. Highlighting the industry’s function as a catalyst for technical advancement, the study looks at the financial paths of market leaders like AMD, TSMC, NVIDIA, Intel, and QUALCOMM. To find patterns and insights into investing behaviors and market dynamics, key financial measures are evaluated. These metrics include Return on Equity (ROE), Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Tangible Equity (ROTE), and Return on Investment (ROI). The results show that the semiconductor industry’s financial performance varies widely. While Intel saw a drop in profitability, NVIDIA and TSMC continuously showed substantial increases. AMD and QUALCOMM showed swings, with intervals of notable expansion and abrupt contractions. The present investigation highlights the significance of innovation and strategic decision-making in propelling financial prosperity. The findings provide insightful information about the prospects and challenges of the semiconductor business to scholars, investors, and policymakers. This information helps shape investment plans and policy formation in this crucial sector of the economy.
