How To Evaluate a Learning Object?
Dr. Maja Gligora Marković
ABSTRACT:
The development of digital technology has had a significant impact on education, with e-learning systems becoming an important tool for teaching and learning. Their benefits have been particularly felt during the recent COVID-19 pandemic. The key element of these systems are learning objects, the smallest units of knowledge, whose validity and usability are increasingly analyzed due to the rapid increase in available educational materials. The aim of the research is to develop a tool for evaluating learning objects using the Delphi method that can be used independently or as part of an e-learning system. Previous research has shown that there are two main categories of assessment: Assessments conducted by teachers, which are often based on experience, or computerized assessments, which often have very specific assessment criteria. In this research, the Delphi method was used to develop a learning object assessment tool that involves multiple rounds of assessment by experts to reach consensus. The main evaluation criteria were based on Bloom’s taxonomy of learning objectives, the VAK model of learning styles and Biggs’ cognitive depth/surface style. The results showed a high degree of agreement of the respondents with the proposed statements, which confirms the validity and reliability of the developed instrument. The calculation of the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient (0.9165) showed a high reliability of the instrument, which allows its application in e-learning systems for personalized education.
