Ethical Life: Integration of Confucianism and Buddhism for Good Life in Digital Age

ABSTRACT:
The research entitled “Ethical life: Integration of Confucianism and Buddhism for good life in digital age” has four objectives: 1) to study the concept of the good life in Confucianism 2) to study the concept of the good life in Buddhism and 3) to compare the good life between Confucianism and Buddhism. 4) to integrate Confucianism and Buddhism for good life in digital age. The result of the research shows that the good life in Confucianism can be concluded in two concepts that must be practiced both “Ren” (Love) and “Li” which support each other. “Ren” is a state of mind which consists of love and wishes for good for others that are shown the reflection in the practical practice of the Confucius’ five relationships. The Buddhist Philosophy had three levels of ethics as follows, a basic level, a middle level, and a high level. The six directions as the principle of relation and mention on duty among members in family and to society. In Buddhism act good for others that are shown the reflection in the practical wisdom of the six directions incorporate with eights fold paths. The comparison of the good life in Confucianism and, both philosophies promote a good life by having inner peace, mindfulness, compassionate, and wellbeing. Integration of Confucianism together with Buddhism allows us to live in the middle path which can reduce the stress of living everyday life, have a good mood, and have good relationships with people in society. It can be concluded that living a life by using Confucius practical wisdom implemented with Buddhism middle way can lead happiness and wellbeing which mean a valuable life. The goal is contributed strength society, beginning from individual, family institution to global community in digital age.
