Place of Uranium Industry and Prospects for Creating a Growth Pole in Niger

ABSTRACT:

From the perspective of the exploitation of the Imouraren uranium deposits in the north of the country in 2028, this article attempts to understand the contours of an industrialization strategy based on the creation of a growth pole, or even competitiveness on this country party. This paper shows how we moved from the concept of a growth pole to that of a competitiveness pole. The study then examined the dependence of the Nigerien economy on the uranium. Drawing lessons from the unequal sharing of uranium revenue and the nature of this mineral, it proposes the creation of a growth pole likely to evolve towards the implementation of a Nigerien cluster. The success of this development strategy can be generalized with a view to putting territories in competition, the objective being to reduce or even stop the food, economic and socio-political crises which affect the evolution of Niger’s economic parameters.
