ABSTRACT:
STEM technologies in Kazakhstan have their own history of development. One of the reasons for its introduction into the educational space of Kazakhstan was the low functional literacy of students in 2015 PISA. The relevance of the study lies in the fact that the Kazakhstan education system faces the same problems as the world community in determining and introducing STEM technology, such as: lack of a unified understanding of STEM technology, lack of experienced teachers, lack of methodological support. This article discusses the factors affecting the development of STEM technology and ways of its introduction into the educational process in Kazakhstan, provides reasoning for the innovativeness of STEM technology in the system of training teachers of the natural science disciplines. It has been established that in grant projects the issues of the formation of STEM competencies of future teachers in natural disciplines are not sufficiently studied. Our project on the topic “Formation of STEM competencies of future teachers in natural disciplines in the context of digitalization of education” is devoted to solving this problem. Within the framework of this project, an educational program (Minor) “STEM-approach in secondary education” was developed, which includes three disciplines (Technologies for the digitalization of secondary education and robotics; Basics of 3D modeling and engineering; Project training in secondary education in the context of STEM) with 5 credits each, which contribute to the formation of STEM competencies of future teachers in natural disciplines in the context of digitalization of education.
