ABSTRACT:

In this paper, I examine recent developments in Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, and how they will impact and transform education in the future. Several AI platforms have emerged that will have implications for the pedagogy of the contemporary classroom. One salient artificial intelligence tool that is impacting contemporary education is the program ChatGPT. Chat GPT uses natural language processing to respond to questions and create written content such as articles, papers, and visual imagery. ChatGPT has generated problems for traditional educational work such as conducting research, writing papers, or even relying on teachers for information. Although traditional education methods rely on student-generated text and information, I suggest that ChatGPT offers possibilities for education to be transformed. ChatGPT with its natural language function can provide personal feedback, direction, and support to students that can increase their autonomy and efficacy as learners (Firat, 2023). For teachers, ChatGPT can create curriculum, assist with research, and provide grading functions. With new AI technology, teaching and learning is not about delivering and accepting predetermined content, but learning skills for developing effective prompts, editing output, and assessing the quality of information. Education becomes more about developing mentoring relationships amongst and between teachers and students, for the purpose of creatively and autonomously generating knowledge and understanding.
